| Old Fort Townsend State Park is a pleasant
"old-fashioned" park that harkens back to an era of tall trees, broad views,
good clamming, family picnics, softball games, nature walks, and a respite
from the cares of modern life.
Located just a couple of
miles south of Port Townsend, the 377-acre park lies atop a bluff, commanding a scenic
view of Admiralty Inlet, Port Townsend Bay, and the Cascade Mountains. Over a half-mile of
saltwater beach frames the park to the east. A large natural forest area, interlaced with
miles of trails, invites exploration to the west
